"My portraits are more about me than they are about the people I photograph" - Richard Avedon
This post is more of a reflection entry...from M {of L&M}. But of course with a few photos to share! :)
Being a photo-hobbyist didn't just happen over night. It took a lot of learning, practicing, clicking, deleting, more clicking.....and still, even more deleting. What started as just "simple fun" to capture some of life's memories with my point & shoot turned into a love and passion of making those memories a tad more significant (for me and others). Of course, the husband's support and desire to see me grow have had a ton of influence on my journey, and I thank him so much for that. Andddd of course having an amazicle sister {L of L&M} has kept the passion alive and fun, and I cannot imagine shooting without her (my confidence totally goes out the door if she's not shooting next to me...I hope we'll be shooting together for a very, very long time). There are so many reasons why I don't ever see myself neglecting the camera to just sit around and collect dust....but mainly because there's so much to learn!
I had the privilege of helping Tim Park coordinate Shuttermoms...a photography workshop specifically designed for mommies. It was another one of Tim's amazing workshops, but this time just for moms! I know everyone who attended left with something invaluable to their photography-journey that lies ahead. Mommies, let's keep taking those pictures! --Even if the lighting is not perfect...even if we can't seem to find enough time in the day...even if the husband doesn't trust us with his equipment...even if our subjects are just too crazy and won't stay still...and even when our photos don't come out perfectly. Thank you, Tim, for inspiring us to be "Shuttermommies"!!! Cheers to photos & mommies!
